South Africa Landscape at the British Museum

The latest in the British Museum series of themed landscapes, on the forecourt, has just been completed: the South Africa Landscape.

As well as being a pleasant place for visitors to wander, the landscape highlights the rich diversity of plant life from South Africa’s Cape region – an internationally renowned biodiversity hotspot, and particularly fitting in this World Cup year!

Previous gardens and landscapes focused on Africa and India.

These garden projects are part of a fuitful relationship with the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, which many participants on the ITP have visited in recent years. For a perspective on how the garden has been put together, see http://www.kew.org/news/kew-blogs/landscape-coming-together.htm. After the end of the landscape display at the Museum, the plants will be donated to the local council, Camden.
