Chinese cartoons at the British Museum
It’s hard to imagine the British Museum has a professional group to research Chinese cartoons of the 20th century and to prepare a special exhibition on the subject. Most of these works satirize international current affairs, some signed as “Te”, some as “Wei”,which are the cartoonist Te Wei’s signature. He is the founder of Chinese cartoon film and Chinese ‘wash painting’ film. “Proud General” and “Little Tadpole Looking for Mom” are works of his loved by children. I would not have associated them with my childhood favorites, without having seen the cartoons at the BM. To pay homage to Te Wei and BM’s researchers.
