ITP 2011 diary: Rasha in Oxford

- With Liam McNamara on the steps of the Ashmolean Museum
It was a wonderful day – we took the train from London Paddington Station to Oxford Station, where we visited the Ashmolean Museum then the Griffith Institute. With my Egyptian colleagues, we had an appointment with Liam McNamara, curator, who told us about the project to transform the Egyptian Galleries, which started in September 2010 and will be finished in November 2011. Thats why we couldn’t see the Egyptian Gallery – unfortunately.
After that we went to The Griffith Institute and saw archive photographs of the tomb of Tutankhamun, 19th-century photographs of Egypt, watercolours and the diaries of Howard Carter.
At the end of the day we had a tour around Oxford city, seeing the colleges (Christchurch, Trinity), and the Martyrs’ Memorial. We then went to the station to take the train back to London. I really hope to visit Oxford again because it was a very nice day .
This training programme is really exciting, in London with my new friends from all over the world!
