ITP 2012: Day 8 – Esengül Yildiz Öztekin

I am ITP participant from Turkey. I’ve spent 7 days in Bristol Museum and Art Galleries along with 3 others. Today 21.06.2012 we were accompanied by Mr. Phil Walker to the city of Bath, where we visited The Halburne Museum along with the American Museum in Britain.

Along the way Mr. Walker gave us information about the city. Bath’s city status by Queen Elizabeth I granted in 1590. The city was first founded as a resort called Aquae Sulis by the Romans. There are important architectural features and structures in the city with the list of UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath has since 1987.

HALBURNE MUSEUM:

This a Museum set in a 3 story building, located in the shopping centre of the city. The upper floor contains an exquisite collection of paintings and pictures of folk heroes recently a new extension was added where a temporary exhibition is present. This section also includes small activities for children rich with valuable belongings of the Museum collector from different parts of the world and England. The exhibition halls with interactive applications allow people and children to spend more time exploring the museum.

AMERICAN MUSEUM IN BRITAIN:

Situated within 120 acres of wonderful grounds and stunning scenery, the American Museum in Britain is home to the finest collection of Americana outside of the United States. The Museum opened in 1961. 3 storey museum’s lower level – with a digital quilt, Conkey tavern, civil war, south-west room, trading post, native Americans, the Americans are the western, part of independence is difficult journeys and declarations.

First floor – Lee room, parley parlour, textiles room, 17th century room and central hall

Ground floor – folk art gallery, country store, Greek revival room, New Orleans bedroom, deming parlour, shaker sister’s workroom, central hall, trade with Asia, Furniture craftsmen, stencilled Bedroom and Deer park parlour.

Here, all the rooms, the use of interactive applications in a very impressive presentation. American history and also a very impressive presentation.
