Assam State Museums recently took part in a two week workshop on collections storage from 27th Feb to 11th March, 2016.
The workshop, called “RE-ORG ASSAM”, was organised in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), Rome.
Mr Gael De Guichen, Advisor to the ICCROM Director General and Ms Laura Tapini, a Greek Conservator provided vital resources and the workshop was co-ordinated by Mr Achal Pandya, Head of Conservation, IGNCA.
It was a wonderful two week workshop completely transforming the 4 storage areas of Assam State Museum, which had previously been in poor condition. We also inaugurated a new storage area during the course of the workshop.
Further, a theatre show “Emilio Salgari and the tiger”- A story written in far away Italy, set in Guwahati 1870 written by Italian writer Emilio Salgari directed by Alessandra Messali was also held on 26th March, 2016 in the Museum courtyard.
