Hello from George, the latest ITP recruit
Hello!
My name is George and I am very excited to say that I will be helping with this year’s ITP summer programme!
I am really looking forward to meeting all of this year’s fellows in a just a few weeks’ time! In the meantime, here is a little introduction about myself:
I am 23-years-old and grew up just outside of London in a town called Gravesend in Kent. I studied History at Queen Mary University of London, where I developed a particular interest in the growth and development of the United States of America in the nineteenth century. I have always had a passion for history throughout school, which has naturally led me to pursue a career working in such an important historical and cultural institution as the British Museum!
I have worked at the Museum part-time for a number of years, where I have worked as a Steward assisting with the delivery of events hosted within the Museum. I have loved meeting all the different people and departments who work in the Museum to help them carry out their events. Now I have the pleasure of working with one of the most exciting programmes the British Museum has to offer.
As for my other interests, I love sports – especially football. I enjoy blogging, going to the cinema, reading fantasy novels, and visiting other museums and heritage sites in London and the UK. The Japanese gallery is my favourite within the British Museum, so that would be my recommendation to first-time visitors.
For the next three months you can find me assisting, planning, and blogging about the ITP summer programme. I cannot wait to get started and meet all of our exciting new fellows from all over the world.
See you soon!
