We are delighted to share the ITP Conference Grant 2023 report written by Marwa Abdel Razek (Egypt, ITP Fellow 2012).

Marwa, who is currently Head of the Registration and Documentation Department at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, used her support grant to travel to the Current Research in Egyptology Conference at Basel University, Basel, Switzerland from 10 – 14 September 2023.

The Current Research in Egyptology (CRE) is a postgraduate conference set up to facilitate research and promote bonds between all the international universities worldwide that are conducting research in Egyptology, Egyptian Archaeology, or any other related field of study.  The conference gave Marwa excellent networking opportunities with over 80 participants from 40 countries.  Marwa was also able to visit a Roman archaeological site and open-air Museum while she was in Switzerland.

At the conference, Marwa presented an academic poster on Female Swimmers: Cairo Museum Collections.  She has also kindly shared her article from the CRE 2022 on The Registration, Collections Management, and Documentation at the Egyptian Museum, Cairo: The Researchers and the Publication.

We were delighted to be able to support Marwa to attend and speak at the conference in Basel and thank her for sharing her experience with the wider ITP network.

Enjoy!!  It really is a fascinating read.
