An Update from Claire: Summer Programme 2018
Written by Claire Messenger, International Training Programme Manager
This year’s ITP summer programme will take place from Saturday 30 June to Saturday 11 August. Fellows 2018 will join us to broaden their understanding of the UK museum sector by being introduced to a wide range of topics with courses offering a mix of creative workshops and hands-on-sessions, presentations and ‘behind the scenes’ tours.
Following on from our 2017 cohort’s extremely useful evaluation and report comments, this summer we will be introducing the following:
- More subject specialist sessions!!
- Day trips to Sutton Hoo and Hever Castle
- New museums for the Museum Project Day based around the Centenary of the Representation of the People Act.
- And a new and exciting format for the exhibition proposal project.
And of course we’ll be doing our best to make sure the sun shines for the entire 6 weeks!!
As usual fellows will spend ten days of the programme at a UK Partner institution, between Monday 23 July to Wednesday 1 August, and we have the pleasure this year of welcoming National Museums Northern Ireland to the ITP ‘family’.
Finally, we are delighted to announce that the new countries joining our global network will be Azerbaijan, Nepal, Philippines, Rwanda and Syria. And, after some years since their last participation in the summer programme, we will be welcoming back Kurdistan, Oman, Mexico and Uganda.
Once we have everyone’s biographies and the programme for 2018, we’ll be sure to share them with you all.
Claire
