‘Object in Focus’ Project Progress (Khine Mon Kyaw, ITP 2019, Myanmar)
Written by Khine Mon Kyaw, Assistant Conservator, National Museum Yangon (ITP 2019, Myanmar).
Hello! I am Khine Mon Kyaw from the National Museum (Yangon), Myanmar, and have been working as an Assistant Conservator at the Conservation Department. I have arrived in London to attend the International Training Programme. To begin with, I would like to express my thanks to the ITP team, its organisers, staff from the British Museum, the UK partner Museum and all the participants.
Today is my blog post day! The Object in Focus project is an exciting opportunity for all participants. Truly speaking, I didn’t know how to write the blog post. Later, I love this because we can keep about our work, experiences and feelings as an unforgettable diary.
At first I felt some anxiety about working on this object. But I found my partner Balqees Nakhla (Palestine) very nice, so smart and active. She is also very patient and skilful. I am really lucky that we get to work together. Balqees and I got a textile felt bag used by Tarkmen nomads as our object for our exhibition. This textile felt bag is one of the earliest textiles from Central Asia. At the end of the exhibition, we will present our presentation proposal to ITP sponsors, visitors and museum staff.
Each object will tell a unique story and represent different aspect of life, culture and tradition. This is a very great opportunity to show our supporters and colleagues how we have developed during this training for future collaboration. For our exhibition, we will write a label, panel (not more than 180 words) and we will decide the title of exhibition, and we can produce a hand-out sheet or leaflet to give to our guests to take away.
This project has motivated our creative thinking!
