Biography

Ana Šverko is a Research Associate at the Institute of Art History – Centre Cvito Fisković in Split and Split Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy. She has taken part in the documentation of archaeological research in Diocletian’s Palace, and devoted her undergraduate and graduate theses to the topic. She worked for over a decade as an architect-conservator working on a range of different projects renovating monuments from Roman Antiquity.

Her current work involves publishing papers about selected topics from architectural history and heritage conservation. Her work on the Palace continues through work on its preservation as a live and populated monument, and investigation into public perception of the edifice over time.

In 2017, Ana presented alongside fellow 2016 ITP participant Barbara Vujanović on the experience and knowledge gained during their time at the British Museum in a lecture organised by Prokultura: Observatory of Cultural Politics, Ivan Mestrovic Museums and Art History Institute, and the Centre Cvito Fisković.

At the British Museum
During her time on the International Training Programme in 2016, Ana was based in the Department of Greece and Rome. Her UK Partner Museum was Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives.

In 2016, participants were asked to develop a proposal for an Asahi Shimbun Display – a temporary exhibition in Room 3 at the British Museum – based around a single ‘spotlight’ object.  Ana’s exhibition project proposal was entitled A Living Monument: Ruins of Diocletian’s Palace Today.

Ana’s place on the International Training Programme was generously supported by the Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust.
