Biography

Abdulrahman studied History at Al-Fashir University in Sudan. He is now Director of the Sultan Ali Dinar Museum, part of the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums, and takes a particular interest in the documentation of museum objects, gallery display and educational programmes that museums can offer.

As Director, Abdulrahman oversees the whole museum. His main responsibilities include supervising the daily work, setting the annual programmes and guiding visitors around the museum. Abdulrahman often gives lectures to students and group visitors. He is also responsible for various archaeological sites in northern Darfur State.

At the British Museum

During his time on the International Training Programme Abdulrahman was based in the Department of Egypt and Sudan and spent his partner placement at Norfolk Museums Service.

In 2019 participants were asked to plan and propose a temporary exhibition around an object from the Museum’s collection working within the theme of journeys.  Abdulrahman worked with Buket Babatas Aydin (Turkey) and Nyaz Azeez Awmar (Kurdistan) on his Object in focus project. Their exhibition proposal was titled Journey Towards Belief.
